Lurie Children’s Hospital Stepped Guide

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital was founded after the death of Robert Lurie in 1988. Robert made a $390 million fortune investing in real estate with his partner Sam Zell. I posted on Sam Zell’s company Equity Group Investments awhile back. In addition to inpatient pediatric care, Lurie Hopsital has over 700 staff researching child health issues with recent breakthroughs in stem cell research.

The bilingual Child’s Surgery Procedure Guide makes it easy to know what to do at each stage by utilizing stepped tabs that count down to surgery (e.g. 30 to 5 days before, day of…). The front cover has a fold out panel that is perforated so the caretakers can simply remove a fact sheet with information regarding directions, contact numbers and a patient checklist. Again, this is another example of the double reversed stepped pages featured in the McDonald’s and Northwestern University books. For Lurie Hospital, serving children and families go beyond the OR.
