During the summertime, Pep Boys sends out a series of direct mail pieces to remind people to tune up before they’re on the road. There’s so much competition in the auto repair market – timing is key. By using a cheap oil change as loss leader, they are able to get an opportunity to sell tires, repair breaks, alignment wheels, etc.
This bifold self-mailer features a perforated pop out with four tipped on coupons. Behind the perforated coupons is an image of a cute kid, which indicates to the recipient there is info behind the coupons. In addition to the coupons, there’s information about the rewards program and towing services (I didn’t know they had a towing service). You can sign up to receive text message coupon offers by texting “Summer6.” I could really use a text message to remind me to get my oil change…I think I’m 1,000 miles overdue!
